A Snowy Getaway: Breckenridge, Colorado, USA
Ready for the wild, wild West? Then get ready for Breck! I've been here several times and the adorable little town that looks right out of a movie set with the beautiful Rockies behind it never disappoints.
Obviously, winter sports reign supreme here. I usually ski a couple of times during my stay, but leave plenty of time for my muscles to recover and also to shop. And eat. Duh. SO, when you are not on the slopes, here are my Breck favorites:
Beloved Boutique - cutest shop ever! Adorable, casual cool clothes that are reasonably priced and not what you find in your every day shop. I bought a shirt here that I can't. stop. wearing. Also, the store itself is very Instagrammable :)
Olive Fusion - stop in for your matcha fix. I'd never had matcha, but decided this was as good of time as any to try it and I had a blueberry organic matcha soy latte - fancy schmancy and now I'm a convert!
Kenosha Steakhouse - great craft cocktails and yummy food to stop in for a shopping break
C.B. Potts - super rustic and had great fish 'n chips and fondue
Continental Divide Winery Tasting Room - tasting of wines from the highest altitude winery in the world? Sign me up! We had some great Cabernet Sauvignon here
Breckenridge Brewery - wings, beer, and chili in a rowdy, apres ski atomosphere!
Breckenridge Distillery - Tiny tasting room off main street where we tried spirits like chili vodka. Definitely worth stopping by for the free tasting. The bartender was not so nice, but I'll let that slide
T-Bar - If you hit the slopes, T-Bar is fantastic for people watching and a libation afterwards. They usually have a DJ and plenty of heat lamps so you can get a great view of people coming off the mountain
Make sure to walk around Main Street after dark. It's festive and the lights are beautiful
If you happen to be bringing a small child on a trip for longer than a couple nights, it's really nice to get them a full sized crib versus a pack 'n play. Because sleep is king. I rented a crib from Mountain Tot, along with a box of toddler girl toys for the house. They delivered them before we arrived and picked them up after we left. Totally worth it and every night, the little princess slept like a rock. P.S. Look at those cheeks!!!!
If at all possible, get a house with a view so you can take in those Rocky Mountains while being warm and toasty inside
Have you been to Breck? Did you like it?
